Tam Elabbasi
Tam Elabbasi is the principal of TWC Lawyers and runs the firm’s criminal and traffic practice. He came to law after years in banking, business finance and running his own businesses, and he explains the process in language you will actually follow.
Background
Tam holds an LLB from Bond University and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
He did not go straight from school into a law office. His working history spans banking, sales and business finance, and he owned and ran businesses for many years before he was admitted. That matters more than it sounds. A client facing a charge is usually also worried about a mortgage, an employer, a licence condition or a visa, and Tam has been on that side of the desk.
When he moved into law he went directly into criminal and traffic work and built a busy practice in both.
What he acts in
Tam acts across the full range of criminal and traffic matters, including the serious end:
- Murder and other homicide charges.
- Drug trafficking and commercial drug supply.
- Weapons and firearms offences.
- Sexual offences and serious assaults.
- Traffic and licence matters, including drink driving and dangerous driving.
His usual first task with a new client is not tactical, it is informational. What the system will do next, what the realistic range of outcomes is, and what rights you have at each step. People make better decisions once they stop guessing.
