Case note: a District Court trial verdict

What happened
The client was charged in early 2019 with a sexual offence. The matter proceeded to trial in the Brisbane District Court.
The first trial ended with a hung jury. The second ended in a mistrial. The matter was then listed for a third trial.
At the third trial, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty.
The point of it
Contested matters can take years and can require a client to endure the process more than once. Persistence and a functioning jury system produced the verdict here.
