Niamh O’Dowd, senior associate in family law

Published · Updated

The appointment

Niamh has practised exclusively in family law since being admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in 2016.

Before her legal career she worked in client facing roles in Australia and overseas. That shows in how quickly she gets to the point of a matter and explains it in terms a client can act on.

Her focus is on resolution, so that clients can concentrate on their future financial security and their children rather than on a court list. Where proceedings are unavoidable, she is an experienced practitioner in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, preparing court documents, appearing for clients and instructing counsel.

Areas of practice

  • Complex parenting disputes
  • Relocation
  • Property disputes and division
  • Domestic violence
  • Spousal maintenance and child support
  • Financial agreements
  • De facto relationships
  • Same sex relationships
  • Divorce
